HARRY CARR Northumberland Fusiliers REG NO: 2020 KIA 1ST NOV 1914 Flanders France. Menin Gate Memorial Ypres (Ieper), Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders (West-Vlaanderen), Belgium.119844999 Memorial ID 19 October – 22 November 1914 Often known as the First Battle of Ypres, this is a group of named battles that also form part of the outflanking encounter. It becomes a desperate epic fight east of the city of Ypres which finally results in stalemate and entrenched warfare. It takes place at the same time as the Battle of the Yser, fought nearby by the Belgian Army and French forces against the Germans.
Born Hornsea 1884 became a bartender in Hull. 1901 census apprentice brickie in Hull and single. 1911 census he serves in the Northumberland Fusiliers India but absent on the night of census.
Son of Mrs Louisa Carr, Wades House Hornsea. Harry was married he was the husband of Edith Mary Carr 4 Welbourne Terrace Hornsea. In 1891 Harry was living at Wassand with his Mother Louisa age 29 and two sisters at their grandparents home Edward and Jane White
